The Luc Stampers Memorial Scholarship Fund
Luc Patrick Stampers came to Concord, MA as an 18-year-old American Field Service (AFS) student in 1988. Following his passing, Di and Jack Clymer established the scholarship to honor Luc and the spirit of curiosity, congeniality, and exuberance he shared during his time at CCHS. The Scholarship will be awarded for the first time in May 2024 for the 2024-25 academic year.
Luc arrived in Concord with a mind open to everyone and everything along with “rustic English language skills.” Unafraid of making mistakes and determined to experience the life of a teen in the US, he joined the CCHS football and wrestling teams and played trumpet in the band. He immediately made friends by working hard and laughing along at his own mistakes.
Luc returned to France and studied international business but came back to Concord several times, once for a summer job at Digital Corp, later as a part of his honeymoon, and finally with his wife Marie and grown daughters in 2016. Luc worked in his real estate and construction business and was elected as the Alderman of his town, Cheverny, France. He loved sailing, motorcycles, and music and was one of the founders of a musical festival in France called Jazzin’ Cheverny. Luc was endlessly curious and stayed flexible and open to possibilities. If something didn’t go according to plan, he’d say, “no problem,” and with his outlook on life, he was right, it never was.
