Press Release

Shop, Save, and Support

On Saturday February 10th, our community has an opportunity to do some Valentine’s Day shopping locally while saving money AND supporting The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle during “Sweet Saturday.”

Over 40 local shops, restaurants and businesses will offer discounts and special promotions during regular business hours the entire day to anyone wearing a wrist band purchased through The Scholarship Fund.  The brain-child of The Scholarship Fund associate trustee Julie Hagan, the day is designed to raise awareness of The Scholarship Fund while encouraging residents to support local businesses by shopping locally. “It’s really a win-win for everyone. The community can feel good about supporting a local non-profit and local shops, and the shops get additional customers at a normally quiet time of year,” says Hagan. “We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the businesses we have approached about the idea.”

It is the mission of The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle to assist deserving young men and women from the Concord and Carlisle community in achieving a post-secondary school education.  Trustees award scholarships to help fill the unmet financial need of students pursuing educational opportunities at accredited colleges, universities, and technical institutions.  All scholarships are need-based.

To purchase a wrist band for $25 go to www.sweetsaturdayshopsavesupport.eventbrite.com. The wristbands will either be delivered to your home or can be picked up at Lyn Evans in Concord Center on February 10th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
